The Nature Of The Fabric

As I prepared to gather the skirt to the jumper bodice, I realized that because of the stiffness of the fabric this was going to be a very full skirt!  I pulled the gathering threads out and cut off 8" from the width of the skirt front and back, and started again.  A bit of trouble, but the look was worth it.

A Daygown for Boy or Girl

Good quality lace and the best cotton fabric should always be used for a true heirloom garment.  A daygown suitable for boy or girl, with tiny tucks, and a bit of lace.  A daygown that can be treasured and passed down through the family.

Simple Applique'

Before embroidery sewing machines were available, I enjoyed adding simple applique's to my children's outfits using a few basic tools.  A scrap of fabric, machine embroidery thread, "Heat n Bond", and a heart shaped cookie cutter were all that were needed for this simple heart.  I set the zigzag stitch at 3.5 width and .05 length and then followed the instructions on the "Heat n Bond."
